Meer Innenstadt - Sea city centre

Annual marketing levy for Kiel city centre

Kiel's city centre is still one of the most attractive and popular shopping destinations in the area, thanks to its diversity and distinctiveness. The natural advantage of the location lies in its position close to the Fjord, the harbour and the ferry and cruise terminals. This means that Kiel's central shopping area has more direct maritime connections than any other major German city. A flair that is enhanced by various views of the waterfront, harbour cranes and passenger ships. Holstenstraße, Germany's oldest pedestrian zone, is not only the traditional commercial centre of the state capital, but also its urban centre.
To keep it that way, the city centre retail sector, together with Kiel-Marketing, is called upon to do something for its location. In order to effectively counter the strong competition on the outskirts of the city and in the surrounding area, a joint initiative is needed to increase and communicate the attractiveness of the city centre. The campaign will focus on the so-called soft location factors of culture, experience and diversity and the unique maritime character.
