Kiel has said YES: a milestone for the Olympic future.
Germany is bidding for the Olympic and Paralympic Games - and Kiel is firmly set as the venue for the sailing competitions. With the successful referendum on 19 April 2026, the people of Kiel have paved the way for the state capital to become an official partner of the German bid.
In order to highlight the enormous opportunities for the region - from infrastructure to tourism - the Kiel Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Kiel Yacht Club and numerous partners from business, science and society launched the 'In Kiel they say JO! Together, a strong, positive signal was sent from our sports-loving region, which contributed significantly to the positive outcome of the referendum."
