Kiel city centre management

Kiel's city centre is undergoing change. It is an upheaval with some challenges, but above all many opportunities for real transformation! Under the motto "Kiel kann Kiez", the heart of the city is to mature into a diverse and innovative neighbourhood landscape that can offer an individual city centre experience for all Kiel residents and visitors with neighbourhoods full of character.

Seehund mit Pfeife im Mund

In our work, we are guided by the vision of creating a new city centre experience for visitors that focuses on innovative, unusual usage concepts in addition to traditional consumer offers. It is a time of "try and error".

All over Germany, city centres are having to reinvent themselves: Multifunctionality is the keyword and together with you, dear visitors, owners and traders, we would like to find out what is needed for a resilient future for Kiel's city centre.

Our city centre management team from Kiel-Marketing forms the link between the city of Kiel and the stakeholders in the city centre. Since this spring, the three of us have been working on the creative use of vacant spaces, the establishment of forward-looking concepts and the networking and further development of the city centre districts.

Full of zest for action, we are swarming through the city centre and working closely with local stakeholders to turn the vision of "Kiel kann Kiez" into reality step by step.

Neighbourhood management

The city centre is a joint project. Since 2021, our neighbourhood management has been helping to build bridges between the individual stakeholders. Together with tradespeople, local institutions, associations, citizens, the city administration and politicians, we are committed to the city centre of tomorrow. Creating or strengthening networks, highlighting perspectives, encouraging action and acting together. Cooperation projects are a core component of neighbourhood management: from events to long-term changes in the public space - this is where those who care about the city centre get involved and help to revitalise it.

Regular contact in individual and group discussions with stakeholders strengthens the inner-city network and creates space for synergies.

Small and large events in public spaces and shops provide an attractive offer and allow the city centre to be experienced as a lively place

An attractive city centre starts with the details. Change must be visible: New decorative elements add a splash of colour and character.

Create offers for visitors: Discounts such as our ParkenPlus programme, which reimburses city centre customers for part of their parking fees.

Settlement management

Our relocation management plays a key role in the further development of Kiel's city centre. It actively supports companies and innovative projects in establishing themselves in the various districts of Kiel's city centre.

By providing targeted advice and networking, the business location management team ensures that new players can quickly find the right location and successfully gain a foothold. With a focus on the optimal mix of sectors and utilisation concepts, care is taken to ensure that each new establishment matches the individual identity of the respective neighbourhood and enriches the cityscape in the long term. The team brings entrepreneurs together with the right contacts in the city and offers comprehensive support - from analysing the location to arranging contacts and supporting the entire relocation process.

Interim utilisation management

In addition to supporting long-term prospective tenants, we also listen to short-term requests for temporary use. The city centre management provides support in the search for a suitable interim use space and thus brings a breath of fresh air to the available spaces. Due to its temporary nature, new experiences and incentives for visitors are constantly being created.examples of this are the pop-up pavilion at the Alter Markt or Project Space 13 in the upper Holstenstraße.

Interim utilisation concepts are individually tailored solutions that offer cultural and creative professionals, entrepreneurs, initiatives, associations and similar groups a cost-effective stage in a central location. We support you in realising your own personal vision!
