The toughest sailing race in the world
THE RACE

The first The Ocean Race (formerly the Volvo Ocean Race, before that The Whitbread Round the World Race) started in 1973. Since then, the toughest regatta in sailing has travelled around the globe 14 times: from Europe across the Atlantic, around the Cape of Good Hope in the Southern Ocean to Cape Horn, from there to South and North America and back to Europe. The first The Ocean Race Europe took place in 2021. The next European edition will start in Kiel on 10 August 2025!

Marine conservation and sustainability
A RACE WE MUST WIN

The oceans are the race course, the wind is the engine of the boats. Marine conservation and sustainability are firmly anchored in the DNA of The Ocean Race. The sailing race is part of an extensive network of experts and institutions around the world. The data collected on board the racing yachts is an essential part of the scientists' work to research the climate crisis and identify ways to protect the climate. Or as it says on Boris Herrmann's sail: It's A RACE WE MUST WIN.

Sponsoring concept
We all sail in the same boat

The Ocean Race is a credible platform in the fight against climate change, but scientists, politicians and companies are also taking part. Because only together will we be able to make a substantial contribution. That is why our motto in Kiel is: WE ALL SAIL IN THE SAME BOAT.

With the sponsorship concept we have developed, we are not only giving our partner companies the opportunity to get involved in the context of this race, but also to present themselves to a broad audience a long time before the start in August – regionally, nationally and internationally.

On the digital content platform STORYDECK, where news, reports, interviews and videos about the race are published, our partner companies also have the opportunity to publish content in their own section. They can present their company, their innovations and their commitment to sustainability and marine protection.

This is because more and more people are calling on companies to make a meaningful commitment, both socially and in the areas of climate and marine protection. The Ocean Race Europe and our STORYDECK offer an authentic platform for this.
